Keep it cool

Our cool styles include Aerial, Ashtanga, Kundalini and Aerial-Yin-Nidra.  Cool styles are practised at room temperature.

Aerial

(75 MINS)

Aerial Yoga is an innovative type of Yoga using a low hanging, soft suspended fabric hammock to aid traditional yoga postures by supporting your body weight (these are machine washed after each use). The weight of the body is supported, encouraging students to achieve more aligned postures through relaxation and breathing. Enhancing a relaxed and peaceful state of mind and body, while working to refine and advance traditional asanas, both in the air and on the ground.

The hammock supports the student allowing beginners to practise safely and to attempt deeper movement within the postures. The weightlessness removes compression from the spine and provides greater comfort and freedom of movement. Poses that may have been restrictive in other yoga classes will start to be more accessible. Uniquely developed for beginners through to all levels of yoga experience. No previous experience is required.

Ashtanga

(90 MINS)

A class for everyone who wants to experience this dynamic form of ashtanga yoga with a strong group energy. The classes will focus in particular on vinyasa (breath movement system) as well as the importance of foundation, bandha and alignment in each asana (posture) and are geared to build stamina, strength and to learn the primary series sequence. There will be emphasis on different elements each week, to enable students to deepen their experience and understanding of the practise, preparing them for self practise classes.

Sometimes the first half of the class will be ‘counted’ in the traditional way as taught in india in which students are led in sanskirt through part of the primary series.

Ashtanga Foundation

(75 MINS)

This is a supportive and welcoming class, where beginner and intermediate students will get the opportunity to practice the first section of the Ashtanga Yoga sequence at a slow and available pace.

Breathing and vinyasa techniques will be explained thoroughly. Modifications of poses will be shown for all ability levels. We will build up the necessary strength and flexibility which represent the foundations of our practise.

This class is intended as a “way in” for our led classes on Wednesday and Friday.

Kundalini

(75 MINS)

Kundalini yoga is the yoga of awareness, the yoga of consciousness. Using Asanas (postures), Pranyama (breathing) Mudras (hand postures), Mantra (chanting) and Meditation it works systematically on the energy of your chakras and your 10 etheric bodies to create body, mind, spirit union and balance. It can be dynamic with rapid arm movements or more meditative but either way you will leave feeling transformed, uplifted, serene, contented. Classes are suitable for all as we work at our own pace.

Aerial Yin Nidra

(75 MINS)

A slower, restorative style aerial yoga class. The fabric is used to support the body in the postures, allowing for a deep release and relaxation of muscles, joints and connective tissue. In contrast to our regular, more dynamic aerial yoga practice, postures are held for a few minutes, with the hammock height set closer to the mat. Including gentle variations of our favourite zero compression inversions. Finishing with a floating, dreamy Nidra meditation.
